NASCAR Driver Landon Cassill Appears on TRS Radio

Since starting this website and podcast, I have been fortunate enough to meet some very interesting people – Olympic Gold Medalists, World Champions and CEOs. One day, I read a tweet from a listener of TRS Radio and I took notice when I saw the “verified” check mark next to the name. The listener was a young 25 year old NASCAR driver named Landon Cassill.

I reached out, we exchanged numbers and since that time we’ve become best friends guys who text each other. Because he just raced Ironman 70.3 Mont Tremblant, we though this would be a great opportunity to appear on the show.

I’ve never been a huge NASCAR fan, but I’m a very curious person and this was a great opportunity to talk to an up and coming driver about the sport. In this 1hr+ interview, I try to understand how this happened for him and what his life is like.

Landon talks about driver compensation, risk of death and/or injury, fear about concussions, how one goes from a kid racing go-carts to racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series, and his passion for triathlon. He also talks about controversy and dust-ups with the likes of Danica Patrick and Bobby Hamilton, Jr.

Why would a 25 year old racecar driver get married? What are the physical gifts required to become a great racecar driver? Why are NASCAR drivers like Jimmie Johnson and Josh Wise getting into triathlon?
