NASCAR Driver Landon Cassill Pulls off the Ultimate Brick Workout

Landon Cassill, the 25 year old NASCAR driver from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, pulled off an impressive brick workout following the Coca Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. With the help of his title sponsor, SNAP Fitness, he ran 14 miles from the speedway to the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Uptown Charlotte.

Landon got into triathlon because his father, an avid triathlete and duathlete, told him he needed to get fit. Cassill took a long hard look at himself in the mirror and asked if he was doing everything he possibly could to be successful in the sport of stock car racing. In the end, he saw how fit Jimmie Johnson was and he decided that he was a slob in comparison.

At that moment, he got serious and committed to physical fitness. As a triathlete, his goal for this year is to qualify for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship as an age grouper. He is planning to compete at Ironman 70.3 Mont Tremblant on June 21.

Landon and his wife are expecting a baby today, so follow him on twitter and give him a shout-out on behalf of the TRS Triathlon family. Landon is a regular TRS Radio listener and has been preparing for months for his first appearance. Subscribe on iTunes so you don’t miss out.
